Hanover Rotary Club Presents Scholarship to Local Student

Congratulations to a very deserving student, Madison Roberts of Norwich, VT. During Hanover High School’s Class Day ceremonies on June 13, 2024 the Hanover Rotary Club was pleased to present her with the annual award of $10,000 from the Andrew Postupack Memorial Scholarship.

This scholarship was founded in 2017 to honor the memory of a young man from Hanover who left a lasting legacy in this community. Andrew was a Hanover High graduate who had an independent spirit, a passion for science and engineering, a love of the outdoors, and broad tastes in art and music. He worked hard, played hard, and lived his life in pursuit of the ideals of individualism, self-reliance, leadership, and patriotism, while discreetly providing aid and assistance, kindness, compassion, and a helping hand to people in need throughout his life.

From her scholarship application, we learned that Madison will be a first-generation college student and plans to attend the University of Vermont to study elementary education. Madison's community service includes Habitat for Humanity, where she travelled to Arkansas for a 4-day build, and the Haven, where she cooks meals once a month for the "Moms in Recovery" program and volunteers at the food shelf. When asked about her hobbies, Madison said she loves to read, paint, take photos, and practice ceramics.

Congratulations, Madison, and best wishes for a successful college experience!
